Nathan Cody Verstoppen September 5, 1995 – December 29, 2024 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nathan Cody Verstoppen on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the age of 29. After fighting for his life for 10 days in the ICU, he passed away due to injuries sustained in a tragic car accident caused by a drunk driver. Nathan Cody Verstoppen was born on September 5, 1995 in Merced, CA to Dave and Kathy Verstoppen. He graduated from Golden Valley High School in Merced, CA in 2013 and attended classes at Woodland Community College. He grew up in Merced, then moved to Hidden Valley Lake, CA as a young adult with his family. Nathan worked at Twin Pine Casino, Hidden Valley Lake Association Security, and most recently at Reynolds Systems, Inc. Nate loved woodworking, cooking, and swinging a stick in the outdoors. He was proud to be a nerd in all things dragons, magic, sci-fi, anime, weaponry, and fantasy. He enjoyed hanging out and playing video games or D&D with his brotherhood group on Discord, which included his brother, Bryan, and his virtual brothers - Tim, Alex, Miguel, and Joe. He also loved learning via YouTube, especially about medieval fortifications, and was a voracious consumer of audiobooks. His indomitable spirit of happiness leaves behind a legacy that has touched numerous lives. Nathan's consistent attitude of positivity has buoyed up many a person on their darkest days. He generously gave much of his time in service to others and would help people without hesitation during hard times. Nathan's dedication to family was always evident, but he is off to a new adventure and will be deeply missed by his parents, Dave and Kathy Verstoppen; siblings, Bryan (Megan), Alex, Katy, and Lisa; nephews, Aiden Fernandez, Archer Verstoppen, and Colt DeKeyser; niece, Aaralynn Verstoppen; grandparents, James Philip “Poppy” (Georgia) Verstoppen, Jim (Betty) Livingston; and members of the Verstoppen and Livingston families.
