Tracey Lynn Head Obituary

Tracey Lynn Head

Tracey Lynn Head, 52, of Hidden Valley Lake, California, passed away unexpectedly on May 25, 2025.

Tracey was born on March 10, 1973, in St. Helena, California, and grew up in Eureka. She attended Humboldt State University, where she earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, beginning a lifelong dedication to education and public service.

Tracey spent 25 years as an elementary school teacher, where she touched the lives of countless students with her warmth, patience, and passion for learning. Her classroom was a place of encouragement, curiosity, and care — a true reflection of the heart she brought to her work.

After retiring from teaching, Tracey continued serving her community by working at Twin Pines Casino and Hotel and later at the Lake County District Attorney’s Office. In every role, she was valued not only for her work ethic but for her kindness, integrity, and ability to bring people together.

Beyond her professional life, Tracey was known for her joyful spirit and deep love of music. She especially enjoyed weekly karaoke nights, where she shared her beautiful voice, formed lasting friendships, and brought light to everyone around her.

Tracey made her home in Hidden Valley Lake, where she raised her daughter and built a life rooted in love, community, and connection.

She is survived by her cherished daughter, Breann Bailey Reese (16) of Hidden Valley Lake; her devoted mother, Gerri Harris, also of Hidden Valley Lake; her father, Danny Cates, of Los Barriles, Baja California Sur; and her brother, Brian Cates, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Tracey’s life will be announced soon.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Tracey’s memory to a children’s literacy or music education organization—honoring her enduring passion for teaching, music, and giving back.

“To teach is to touch a life forever — and to sing is to share a piece of the soul.”

Tracey’s legacy of compassion, service, and joy will live on in the lives she touched, the community she served, and the love she gave so freely.
