Olive May McQueen Obituary

Olive May McQueen

Olive May McQueen passed away in Sacramento, California surrounded by family on October 5, 2025 at the age of 96.

Born April 19,1929 in Healdsburg, California, Olive lived a life of few words, but left a long standing impact on those she knew. She attended Kelseyville High School before being a student at Canyonville Bible Academy and later at Glad Tidings Bible Institute in San Francisco where she graduated. This training helped her as a co-pastor and minister’s wife with her husband of 62 years, George. Outside of her role as a church leader and George wrangler, Olive’s gentle touch, patience, and calming presence contributed to her prowess in other areas. The halls of the Lake County Fairgrounds still echo with her countless blue ribbon entries for her vegetables. As an angler, her extraordinary patience reeled in catfish, carp, and bluegill from Clear Lake that would make the Bass pros jealous. As a mother and grandmother, her quiet but commanding presence always brought peace to her family.

Olive was a prolific reader and lover of stories, devouring novels and afternoon soap operas like popcorn, and her presence was a guarantee at any of her grandchildren’s events. Her quiet resolve helped her tackle complex 1,000 piece puzzles and survive two strokes and outlived the doctors who told her she wouldn’t live a long life. True to her character, she didn’t gloat.

She is predeceased by her husband, George McQueen and survived by her three sons, George, Michael, and David; brother, Robert Fultz; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Nathan, Jared, Isaac, Brenden, Stephen, and Abigail; and 13 (and counting) great-grandchildren.

A Celebration Service will be held on January 17, 2025 at 11:00AM at Lakeport Christian Center. Lunch will be provided for everyone after the service. In honor of Olive, there will be potato salad.
