David J. "Dave" Washburn Jr. Obituary

" In Loving Memory of David "Dave" Washburn Jr.

August 31st, 1965 - June 9th, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Dave Washburn, 60, of Upper Lake, California.

Dave was a devoted husband, father, papa, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie Washburn; his mother, Jackie Washburn; his sister, Judy Jones; his children, Steven, Ashley and Dylan; and his cherished grandchildren, John, Cameron, and Makai; his loving in-laws, John and Betty Leone; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him tremendously.

Dave was the kind of man who could fix just about anything. A true handyman with an incredible work ethic, he spent his life helping others without hesitation. If someone had a problem, Dave was the first person they called. He always found a solution—and if there wasn't one, he would find a way to make one. His willingness to lend a hand, share his knowledge, and support those around him touched countless lives. The impact he made on others can be seen in the many lives he touched, the friendships he built, and the family he loved so deeply.

A lifelong NASCAR fan and racing enthusiast, Dave spent the majority of his life at the racetrack—whether turning wrenches in the pits, chasing checkered flags behind the wheel, or coaching and encouraging his son Dylan from the sidelines. Racing was a family affair, and alongside his son, Dave helped build a team that brought home many victories over the years. While the trophies were meaningful, it was the time spent together, the lessons learned, and the memories made at the track that meant the most to him.

Above all else, Dave was a family man. He worked hard throughout his life to provide for those he loved, always putting his family first. His strength, generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication will be remembered by all who knew him.

Though our hearts are broken by this sudden loss, we take comfort in knowing that Dave's legacy will live on through the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared so freely.

If something was broken, Dave could fix it. If someone needed help, Dave was there. That's simply who he was—and that's how he'll always be remembered.

"The race may be over, but the tracks he left on our hearts will remain forever."
