Lorraine Judith Easter (nee McManis) was born December 18, 1938, in Sioux City, Iowa, and

passed the morning of August 20, 2026, near her home in Lakeport, after a short illness.

Lorraine’s childhood and early adult life were spent in Sioux City, where she continued her

education (receiving a degree in chemistry from Iowa State University) and married. In the early 60s, the young couple moved to California and started their family. Later the family moved to Lake County, where Lorraine spent many years teaching mathematics at Mendocino and Yuba Community Colleges.

Lorraine was a gifted, widely beloved teacher, who had the ability (through her kindness,

endless patience, and individual attention to her students) to help young people grow and

realize their potential. Lorraine was a loving mother and sister and a truly beautiful friend, who is missed by many. She was predeceased by her brother, Jerry McManis, and is survived by her sister, Carol Thompson and her sons Rick and John Easter. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 4, at 1:00 pm, Chapel of the Lakes in Lakeport.
