I am sad to learn of Charlie’s passing and want to extend my sympathies to his family. I first met Charlie back in the late 80’s when I was a teenager aspiring to become a pharmacist. He hired me in the pharmacy department at Kmart where he was the first pharmacist I worked with side by side. Still a long way from becoming a pharmacist myself, Charlie modeled for me professionalism, kindness, compassion and a calmness in the workplace that I take on in my own practice as a pharmacist today. He was a very gentle and intelligent man who taught me to take things easy and think things through. I admired his dedication to the pharmacy profession by remaining licensed and practicing for so long. I also remember his Birkenstocks he wore behind the counter. If memory serves me right, he would slip on his loafers when he stepped out to help a customer on the floor. He will always remain close to my heart for his support in my training and education.
