Obituary of Bethany Rose

Please share a memory of Bethany to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bethany Rose was born September 1, 1949, in Santa Rosa, California to Elton and Retha Garner. Bethany passed away on February 10, 2023 surrounded by family and friends, at 73 years of age; after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of more than 51 years, Gary Rose; her son, Brian Rose, and husband, Anastasio, of Santa Rosa; and son, Tony Rose, and wife, Julie, of Acampo. Bethany is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Logan Rose, Garrett Rose, Millie Rose, Onario Rose, Xavier Rose, Morgan Rose, Britney Rose, David Quigley, Stephanie Quigley, and Ryan Strugnell; her brother, Randy Garner, and his wife, Renee, and their children, John, Ryan and Brianna; and many cousins and friends. Bethany was predeceased by her mother and father. Bethany is a 4th generation Lake County resident; her family homesteading their ranch in Long Valley, Clearlake Oaks California; where she spent a great deal of her childhood. Bethany learned to play the piano very early in life, and played for the Methodist Church of Clearlake Oaks, now Garner Chappel. Later in life, she played for the First Baptist Church in Lakeport. As a youth and teenager, she was active in the Eastlake 4-H Club, and became an accomplished seamstress; winning many dress reviews in Lake County and the State. She was active in speech contests, including the Clearlake Oaks Lions Club contests, and won most contests she entered. She was a graduate of Upper Lake High School (1967) where she was an active student, as well as a member of the Cheerleading squad. Except during her tenure at Sacramento Community College (1969) in Sacramento, Bethany lived her entire life in Lake County. For most of her adult life she lived in Lakeport with her husband Gary, and was an active homemaker. Professionally, she worked as a medical transcriptionist for Lakeport Convalescent Hospital, Dr. Donald Browning, Sutter Lakeside Hospital, and Dr. John Minotti. Bethany and her husband Gary farmed Bartlett Pears in Scotts Valley up to their retirement in 2021. Their orchard brought them great pride of ownership, and grew beautiful pears. Her family was her greatest joy, followed by her love of sewing and quilting. Bethany was well known for her quilts made for family and friends; many which have been displayed at the Lake County Fair, as well as the Kelseyville Pear Festival. She enjoyed collecting vintage and porcelain dolls, a hobby that she shared with her mother; traveling to Kauai Hawaii, spending time at Hat Creek with Gary, her children, their families, and other family members and friends. She also enjoyed golfing with friends, cooking for her family, quilting retreats, as well as participating in Wreaths Across America for the Lower Lake Pioneer and Lakeport Hartley Cemeteries. The family would like to thank all of the medical professionals, care providers, and friends who supported and cared for her; including her first cousin and ICU Nurse, Anne Garner of Clearlake Oaks California. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on February 25th, 2023 at Fitch Hall, Lake County Fairgrounds, Lakeport California. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Lake County 4-H at celake.ucanr.edu/4-H_Program or the American Cancer society at donate3.cancer.org.. You may send condolences to the Rose Family @ PO Box 775 Lakeport California, 95453. Bethany was a one of a kind person to many, and a wonderful wife and mother. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
