Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nancy Jean (Nunes) Conrad Nancy Jean (Nunes) Conrad was born on November 11, 1946 in Marysville, CA and moved to Santa Cruz a year and a half later. She attended Santa Cruz schools and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in June of 1964. Nancy grew up in the Garfield Park Christian Church where she accepted Christ as her Savior at age ten. She was active in youth group and choir where her father, who was the choir director, encouraged her to sing her very first solo. Nancy met the love of her life, Mark Conrad, in high school in 1963, but they didn't date until about a year later. She attended Cabrillo Junior College as a college freshmen until following her future husband to Chico State. She married Mark on June 11, 1966 at her childhood church in Santa Cruz. Their union produced three children, Cristy Jean, Scott Alan, and Timothy Michael. Nancy is survived by her husband, Mark; daughter, Cristy Fox (Mike Fox); son, Scott Conrad (Jennifer Conrad) and son, Tim Conrad; 6 grandchildren, Jordan Fox (Julia Fox), Matthew Fox, Rena Fox, Trey Conrad, Payton Conrad, Kara Fox, and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Bob) Nunes (Linda Nunes); uncle, Howard Nunes (Alberta Nunes); in-laws, Warren Conrad (Joy Conrad), Chris Conrad (JoAn Conrad), Tyler Conrad, Cinda Killebrew, Suzanne Conrad, Bob Osborn; 5 beloved cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She is predeceased by her parents, Marge and Bill Nunes; older brother, Bill Nunes and his wife, Janet; her older sister, Marlene Osborn (Nunes); and in-laws, Frances and Warren Conrad. When Nancy was not doing the most important job of being a housewife and mother, she was involved in church activities; she taught children's Sunday school classes, lead the Joyful Sounds children's choir, served in women's ministries, sang in the choir, was part of the MNM Trio (Marilyn, Nancy, and Mickey), and sang the lead in several of the Christmas and Easter cantatas. She ran Rainbow Acres Preschool from her home on Kelsey Creek for 8 years, after which she went to work as support staff for Kelseyville Unified School District. She held multiple job titles at both the Kelseyville Elementary School and Mountain Vista Middle School including classroom aide, lunch room aide, reading resource aide, and middle school resource aide. She retired in 2005 after 20 years in the school district. She worked with many great teachers and students and felt blessed by her years working with children. Nancy passed on to meet her Lord on July 12, 2023 after a 4 year battle with familial pulmonary fibrosis, a condition that she had in common with her father, Bill, and sister, Marlene. After retirement, her greatest joy was being a grandmother (Grammie) to her 6 grandchildren. She was blessed by all of the memories and lives that she touched and touched her. A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Evangelical Free Church at 11am on Saturday, August 19, 2023 followed by continued fellowship and refreshments.
