Robert Moyle Ramlose November 12, 1949 – December 10, 2024 Robert Moyle Ramlose, a man of immense character, creativity, and passion, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at the age of 75. Born in Downtown Los Angeles on November 12, 1949, to Bob Ramlose and Jean Jolly, Robert’s life was marked by adventure, resilience, and a love for the finer things—cars, music, and family. Growing up, Robert’s early fascination with cars came from his father, a car enthusiast. The family moved to Las Vegas when Robert was young, and after his parents divorced, he was blessed with a close relationship with his stepfather, Louie Heckler, in Boulder City, Nevada. In his youth, Robert developed a talent for picture framing and pursued an English degree in college while working in Las Vegas. His life took a turn when he enlisted in the Navy, serving with honor as a signalman on the USS James E. Keyes during the Vietnam War. He was deployed to the Mekong Delta, where he faced combat and earned recognition for his heroism, including a nomination for the Medal of Honor. After his military service, Robert found his way to Southern California, where he embraced a passion for audio and Hi-Fi electronics, working at Pacific Stereo before launching his own business, The Picture Frame Shop. It was here he met Darlene Helm, with whom he spent many happy years. Together, they raised their son, Robert Louis Ramlose, building a warm and loving home in Long Beach, California. Robert’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to found Ramlose Enterprises, where he thrived in the consumer electronics industry, earning the nickname “Magnum Hi-Fi” for his signature Hawaiian shirts. He later ventured into high-end audio with West Coast Audio Labs and Vortex Limited, reflecting his lifelong dedication to sound and innovation. In the late 90s, Robert rediscovered his artistic roots, opening Musée d’Apac, a picture frame shop in Laguna Beach’s arts district. It was there that a new chapter began with his longtime partner, Celina Fontaine. Together, they built a quiet and fulfilling life, moving to Kelseyville in Lake County in 2010. Surrounded by the serenity of Northern California, Robert spent his days playing guitar, driving his Porsche Boxster, and enjoying the view of Clearlake. In his later years, Robert cherished his renewed bond with his son, Rob, and the newly founded relationship with his grandson, Ryan. While distance kept their relationship from fully flourishing, Robert was immensely proud of his son for raising such a remarkable young man to carry on the Ramlose legacy. Robert is survived by his loving partner of 25 years, Celina Fontaine; his son, Robert Louis Ramlose; his grandson, Ryan Ramlose; Celina’s daughter Marina; and a lifetime of friends and family who will miss his warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit. A Celebration of Robert’s remarkable life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Veterans’ charities in his honor.
